As we return to hosting events, Spartan’s #1 priority is to put on safe, enjoyable, and physically challenging races. Below are the guiding safety principles and event modifications we’re making to ensure a safe, exciting event for everyone.
In accordance with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and varying state health guidelines, Spartan has implemented safety measures to mitigate COVID-19 transmission risks at events.
All event staff will be tested and cleared, All participants must pass temperature checks and health screenings prior to admission.
Capacity will be limited, start times will be staggered. All Sign ups must be made online. Less crowds, more room to spread out and distance.
Enhance cleaning. Sanitizer available throughout the event. Modifications to reduce interactions with others
Face coverings will be worn by staff, and may be required for racers depending on location. Respect your fellow Spartans and follow the rules.
This will be conducted by a medical professional and will include:
Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) will be subject to additional screening and will be asked to leave if the conditions persist
If someone fails the health screen then all the individuals in that party will not be admitted. Any Racer or Attendee that is denied admission due to a positive Covid-19 antigen test or a failed health screening will receive a full refund.
Each customer shall be required to complete a declaration when checking in at the event that they are not currently infected by COVID-19 and have not had, or knowingly been in, contact with someone experiencing any of the following COVID-19 symptoms in the past 14 days:
All Spartan staff will be tested and cleared prior to race day.
Capacity will be limited, ranging from 25%-75% of standard capacity, based on state and federal guidelines. Registration must be completed online prior to the race. No on site registration will be permitted
Racers will sign up for “heats” (time slots) in 15 minute increments. The number of racers per heat will range from 50-150 based on input and from local health officials
Always keep at least 6 feet between yourself and other people. Racers must observe and obey all signage that promotes social distancing. Line queues will be placed and distancing shall be enforced throughout the event, specifically at the following locations:
Spartan staff will regularly clean and sanitize all customer touch-points throughout the day, particularly in high traffic areas, at restrooms, tables, handles, and more
Sanitizer will be available for use throughout the event, including throughout the Festival, after every obstacle and in and around portable toilets.
Adjustments will be made in order to reduce physical interaction between racers and staff. This includes, but is not limited to, cashless transactions, self-serve medal collection, self-serve T-shirt collection, self-serve bag check.
STAFF: All event staff and volunteers will wear face coverings at all times. Reusable face masks will be available for purchase on site.
RACERS: Racers will be required to follow the state or local mandate for face coverings. Where mandates do not exist, Racers are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering whenever possible, especially when within 6 feet of others.
Plastic or vinyl shields will act as a barrier between racers and staff or volunteers at all areas where staff and racers interact.
Obstacles : Obstacles with water pits may be limited or prohibited based on input from local health officials.
Water Stations: On-Course water stations will be 16 oz. water bottles only. Hydration packs will be permitted and should be filled prior to arrival. No onsite pack filling will be available.
Rinse Station (showers) and changing stations may be omitted at events if deemed necessary by local health officials.
Bag Check will be self-serve. There will be small lockers for rent to store small valuables.
The admission of Spectators and Kids Racers will be subject to approval from local health officials . Unauthorized media and others that do not fall under the categories listed will be denied entry.
Racers will not be permitted to enter the “Festival”(course start and finish) until 30 minutes prior to their start time. Racers will not be permitted to change their start time.
Racers shall observe and obey the travel restrictions and quarantine requirements as set forth by relevant executive orders, which may change over time.
Bring a photo ID and a print out or screen shot of your Registration Barcode and proof of start time. You will need them to enter the event area.
Racers will not be permitted to enter the Festival until 30 minutes prior to their start time. Note there is limited cell coverage onsite.
High risk individuals, or anyone living with high risk individuals, are encouraged not to attend the event .Always refer to the latest governing body guidelines when deciding if you should attend. High-risk individuals may include :
Customers should monitor their health 14 days prior to race day, and be aware of any symptoms that could indicate they have been infected with the novel coronavirus. Any customer exhibiting the following symptoms in the 14 days prior to an event should not attend:
Individuals who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or who exhibits the above symptoms in the last 14 days should not attend.

All registered racers will receive safety information specific to their event (following input from state and local officials) via email between 1-3 weeks prior to their event.
